Amberley to showcase award winning label technologies at Packaging Innovations London

With just one week to go until the capital’s most innovative packaging event, Coveris’ luxury labels brand, Amberley Labels is gearing up to showcase a range of award winning products and technologies at London’s Olympia.

A lot has happened at Amberley Labels over the past few years. Since being acquired by the Coveris Group in 2019, over £3.5M has been invested in state-of-the-art technology alongside a new brand identity to strengthen Amberley’s position as a world class leader in the premium labels market.

Recently extending its brand across two award winning facilities in Dorset and Lincolnshire, Amberley’s twin sites provide a truly unique suite of print and embellishment capabilities for the labels sector. Spanning flexographic, digital and hybrid processes and support services, as well as integrated recycling capabilities, Amberley provides a hub of technology to support next generation decorative label demands.

With much of this investment having taken place during the pandemic, the business is ready to unleash a host of new technologies at next week’s London show. A sneak preview of the developments can also be seen via a virtual tour of the two new facilities in Boston and Blandford.

DIGITAL METAL®

As the UK’s only label manufacturer to offer DIGITAL METAL® capability, Amberley’s new Kurz DM-Jetliner is set to take label embellishment to the next level. Working alongside Amberley’s existing digital print technologies, the new jetliner seamlessly supports inline digital foiling to create custom and multiple colour varieties within a single label. Utilising digital inkjet adhesion in combination with a silver base for inline HP Indigo ink application, the innovative technology unlocks a new world of colour foil possibilities. This includes a wide range of speciality, holographic, security and standard foil shades that all deliver major sustainable benefits via reduced originations and metallic rationalisation.

Amberley Infinity™

Infinite possibilities through data-driven design. Having recently won a print technology gold at this month’s EFIA 2021 awards, Amberley’s new Infinity™ project highlights the opportunity for almost limitless bespoke print. Combining state-of-the-art print technology with proprietary algorithms, true one-of-a-kind, unlimited variables are generated through digital print. These include text, numbers, images, colours and codes; as well as embellishments including foils, pattern whites, silkscreens and varnishes. The award winning Peacock Gin labels showcase this capability through multiple foils which you can see first-hand at the show.

Luxury labelling without environmental compromise

As part of its leading NO WASTE strategy, Amberley, alongside Coveris has recently unveiled plans to boost label recycling capabilities at its facility in Boston to support its ambitious sustainable vision. The centre is currently responsible for removing over 10,000 tonnes of liner and other paper waste each year. With no direct liner recycling route presently available in the UK, the centre provides a forward thinking environmental service to divert essential material away from landfill or incineration. New plans announced this month will now see the centre scale up capacity to enable the manufacturer to meet growing customer demand for circular manufacturing processes.

Targeting waste recovery across three main streams - manufacturing and production waste, redundant customer material, and by-product release liner - Coveris utilises pioneering recycling processes, including its patented ReCoveris™ delamination process to turn liners back into reusable honey glassine papers and facestocks into upcycled composite materials through its sustainable RafCycle® partnership with UPM Raflatac. Award winning results

Having won a whole host of accolades throughout the years, Amberley has most recently celebrated success at the Digital Printer and EFIA Awards 2021. Once again proving their capabilities in both digital and flexo print, the Digital Printer award was received for its 6 O’clock Romy’s Edition Mango, Ginger & Lime gin label as well as Gold and Bronze EFIA awards for Infinity™ print technology and Weird Beard can labels respectively.
